Experience
Paul Bowen is an innovative creator and implementer of youth leadership development programs in service of a just world where differences unite us. Paul served for 14 years as the Founding Director of a vibrant character formation and leadership development program for Boston middle and high schools students. This innovative program was recognized as a national model for empowering students for college success through a unique blend of character and leadership formation. Paul then went on to serve for 5 years as the Executive Director of a camp and retreat center in New York’s Hudson River Valley that specialized in serving refugee youth. He then served as the Director of Corporate Work Study at a Boston high school, which offers an innovative model where every student in the tuition-free high school went out to work one day per week, and the Boston companies that they worked for paid a scholarship that covered most of the student's tuition. For the past year, he has served as a consultant for camps, youth leadership development programs, and community organizations.
Paul has also served on the board of directors for a charter school in Boston and has held leadership positions at summer camps in Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts. Paul has 12 years of experience leading human rights and human development trips in Central America for both youth and adults. He also created the Seminar in Globalization that he co-facilitated at Eastern Nazarene College for 10 years, and this course was inspired by the work that he did in Central America.
